Assistant to the President of Abkhazia for International Affairs Avra Avidzba rammed on the SUV PSOU checkpoint on the Russian-Abkhaz border, having stood there for five hours. He was not released from the country due to debts, Interfax reports with reference to D News Abkhazia.
Avidzba said that he was kept on the border for almost five hours due to his debts for the services of housing and communal services and taxes. According to him, he promised the border guards that he would pay all debts in three days, after returning from Abkhazia, and even showed them a diplomatic passport, but he did not receive permission.
“A man decided to treat my brains for five hours, hold on, and for the fifth hour ... Moreover, my car is inspected, I have all the documents, I am sitting in my vehicle - I just continued my journey,” Avidzba told reporters.
A video of the incident appeared in social networks. On it, the driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 car with tinted glasses and Dagestan numbers, refusing to submit to the demand of the Russian border guard, demolished the gate at the border crossing, crossed the Russian-Abkhaz border and entered the territory of Abkhazia.
According to Avidzba, one of the border guards acted provocatively, and the rest "could not understand the behavior of their boss." He said that he had already had snags at the Russian border point. "I am registered in the city of Sochi, five cars are issued to me, so taxes come," he said. “But if I even have a billion debt, the diplomatic passport does not allow them to stop me. They should write a notice to the Foreign Ministry of Abkhazia,” the official said.
Avidzba was appointed assistant to the President of Abkhazia for international affairs in June. Prior to this, he participated in an armed conflict in eastern Ukraine on the side of the self -proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic. According to local observers, Avidzba joined the Abkhaz opposition, which achieved the resignation of the former president of the republic, after the murder in November 2019 in Sukhum of his cousin, a 38-year-old thief in the Law of Alchas, known in the criminal world as a Hasik.
