The Bar Chamber of the Leningrad Region aroused disciplinary proceedings against the lawyer of the 29 team Evgeny Smirnov. He refused to subscribe to the non -disclosure in the case of the former Kommersant journalist Ivan Safronov, who is accused of Gosizman. The Ministry of Justice also appealed to the Law Chamber of St. Petersburg demanding to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the head of the 29 team and the second lawyer Safronov Ivan Pavlov. Evgeny Smirnov told the correspondent of the Sever. Real website that the Ministry of Justice turned to the lawyer at the request of the FSB.
“According to the law, we must give only a subscription to non-disclosure of the information containing GOSTIN, and all the lawyers of Ivan Sofronov gave it, but we are not obliged to sign a document that forbids us to disclose the data of the preliminary investigation,” Yevgeny Smirnov explained. “Moreover, when the FSB actively comments on Sofronov’s detention, shows the video of his detention and delivery to the investigative department, makes some skewers through the drainage. Media and telegram to this subscription want to shut up the mouth, not to comment on the criminal case before the public, to the colleagues of Ivan, by the journalists.
According to Smirnov, the FSB exerts pressure on lawyers in the case of Safronov. The defender claims that in Moscow, operatives are conducting external observation after him, and unknown people are trying to hack accounts in messengers.
If in the work of lawyers they find violations, then one of the three punishments await them: a comment, a warning or deprivation of status. Smirnov hopes that his colleagues will not follow the FSB, but will perform on the side of the law giving the right not to give a subscription that Safronov’s defenders demanded.
The former correspondent of the newspaper Kommersant and Vedomosti was arrested in early July on charges of Stateismman. The investigation believes that Safronov transferred the Czech to the Czech Republic data on the military-technical cooperation of Russia with the Middle Eastern African state. The Roscosmos, where Safronov worked for recent months before arrest, said that a criminal case was not connected with the work of a former journalist in a state corporation. The FSB said that Safronov’s accusation was not connected with his journalist.
Journalists stood up for Safronov, believing that a criminal case is associated with his professional activities. In different Russian cities, including St. Petersburg , pickets were held in support of Safronov.
