Onliner reported the death in hospital of a protest participant in Gomel

A young man who was detained at a rally on August 10 died in a hospital in Homel, Onliner reports, citing sources.

He was sent under administrative arrest, after the trial he became ill, and he was taken to the hospital.

“Death came on the night of August 12th. According to preliminary information, it is not related to the detention, ”writes Onliner.

Updated. According to the Belarusian Radio Liberty, the name of the deceased was Alexander Vikhor, he was 25 years old. His mother told the publication that he did not participate in the rally, but "went to the girl." According to her, her son had heart problems, and if he “was in a closed car for a long time in line at the pre-trial detention center”, he became ill.

• On August 10, the Telegram channel “Tea with Raspberry Varennem” reported that the protest rally in Gomel was “brutally dispersed”. “OMON is chasing people, attacking random passers-by,” the channel reported .
• In Gomel, as in other cities of Belarus, rallies have been going on every day since August 9th.
