The Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don extended the preventive measure for COVID-dissident Vadim Cheldiev, who is being persecuted because of a people's gathering in Vladikavkaz. This was reported by the portal "OsNova" with reference to the lawyer Batraz Kulchiev.
Cheldiev will be held in a pre-trial detention center until at least November 18.
- In August, the Investigative Committee initiated a case against Cheldiev for organizing mass riots (part 1 of article 212 of the Criminal Code).
- This is the fifth criminal case against Cheldiev. Earlier, in connection with calls to attend a people's gathering on April 20 in Vladikavkaz and subsequent detention, he was accused of: publicly disseminating knowingly false information about circumstances that pose a threat to the life and safety of citizens (Article 207.1 of the Criminal Code), using violence against a government official ( h 1 article 318 of the Criminal Code ), in public calls to carry out extremist activities (article 280 of the Criminal Code ) and in organizing hooliganism (part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code with the application of part 3 of article 33 of the Criminal Code). Cheldiev was added to the list of extremists.
- On April 20, 2020, a people's gathering took place in the center of Vladikavkaz against the self-isolation regime. About two thousand people took part in the action. The protesters were brutally dispersed by riot police, and a total of 69 people were detained. In the wake of the action, criminal cases were opened.
