80-year-old bike lover failed a doping test and earned disqualification

The US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) disqualified an 80-year-old cycle bike for the use of forbidden drugs, reports CyclingNews .

On August 29, 2019, Barbara Gikel set a world record in her age category, having passed 500 meters from a place for 44.062 seconds. After the race, the Gikel was asked to take a doping test, the results of which showed the presence of traces of methyltestosterone in its body.

The supporter of a healthy lifestyle did not hide the fact of the use of the drug, explaining the organizers of the competition, which has been using it since 2005.

At the same time, the Gikel never indicated methyltestosterone in the form of doping control and did not declare its use earlier.

USADA did not consider the arguments of the pensioner that she needed the drug sufficient and disqualified the athlete for a year, and also canceled her result of August 29, 2019, the championship emphasizes.
