TASS reports that more than 100 thousand people gathered for a protest campaign near the stele. TUT.BY claims that there are at least 200 thousand people.
The rally participants were distributed to four parts of the intersection at the stele. They hold white-red-white flags, flowers and balloons.
Law enforcement officers previously removed the cordon around the stele, which allowed the protesters to take a place near it. Participants in the action chanting slogans with the requirements of changes in the country, the resignation of President Alexander Lukashenko and the release of detainees on protest shares.
Mobile communications at the venue of the promotion work with interruptions. People continue to flock to the place of its implementation from different ends of the city.
The column of people from the stele began to move along the winners Avenue towards Nemiga and Independence Square. Then the protesters occupied the entire area of independence. They also filled the entire avenue to Lenin Street. On the steps of the KGB there were people with posters on whom the requirement to free political prisoners. People passing by the KGB shouted: "Let go!"

We are free and European Belarusians - we ask for peace and security for our children."

In accordance with the official results of the elections on August 9, Lukashenko, who has been the presidency since 1994, won the election by a large margin from other candidates. Residents of Grodno took part in the protest campaign. They walked along the streets of the city from Sovetskaya Square to Lenin Square, holding a 70-meter white-red-white flag. More than 10% of the population came out in Grodno.
