An employee of a Norwegian company involved in Nord Stream 2 was detained at a meeting with a Russian intelligence officer

The Norwegian Police Security Service detained on August 15 in Oslo a person from the country for transmitting information to a foreign state that could harm the security of the country. This was reported on the service's Twitter.

He was detained during a meeting in a restaurant with a Russian intelligence officer, clarifies newspaper the Aftenposten , citing a statement by the service's press secretary, Line Nigaard. The detainee admits that he received money for transmitting information, but denies that his actions threatened the interests of the country, said his lawyer Marianne Darre-Nass.

The name of the detainee is not reported by the Norwegian media. According to VG , we are talking about an employee of the DNV GL agency , who, as part of his work, often communicated with experts in the country's defense sector. The agency is engaged in the certification of ship equipment and underwater pipelines, including in Russia, and acts as a certifying organization for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
