The Moscow City Court dismissed the case of the author of the telegram channel “Protest MSU” Dmitry Ivanov, who was sentenced to 10 days of arrest for a single picket. He was released in the courtroom, his public defender Irina Yatsenko said on Facebook.
The decision to arrest was made on August 13, when he was already serving 13 days of arrest in a special detention center, assigned due to the March action against political repression. A protocol was drawn up against him under the article on repeated violations at mass rallies (Part 8, Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code) for pickets on March 22 near the Ministry of Internal Affairs building on Zhitnaya Street.
Judge Anna Seliverstova dismissed the case due to violations in the preparation of the protocol: police officers of the Yakimanka Department of Internal Affairs did not send Ivanov a copy of the protocol drawn up without him. According to Yatsenko, she insisted on dismissing the case for lack of evidence of an offense, since Ivanov did not stand up with a poster at that time.
