The Kuibyshevsky District Court of Omsk dismissed the case against the deputy of the Trinity settlement, Irina Drozdova, on participation in the action against the "ecological genocide" of rural residents. This is reported by Novaya Gazeta.
The case was dismissed due to lack of corpus delicti. The actions on July 12 and 13, in which Drozdova participated, were devoted to the construction of a crematorium near the settlements, where they plan to bring the remains from all over Omsk, as well as a landfill located in a kilometer zone from the building. The activists demanded "to stop the ecological genocide of the inhabitants of the Trinity settlement." The resolution addressed to Governor Alexander Burkov was signed by 50 people.
In the wake of the protests, the police drew up a protocol against the chairman of the regional human rights committee, Valentin Kuznetsov. He is accused of organizing actions (part 2 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The HRC coordinated the protests, but the city administration recommended that the events not be held due to the pandemic. During the rallies themselves, the police called the actions "illegal", urging those present to disperse.
