The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case of fraud on an especially large scale against Moscow City Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Oleg Sheremetyev. “According to the investigation, a deputy of the Moscow City Duma, with the intent to steal funds from the city budget and personal enrichment, in the period from November 2019 to February 2020, monthly prepared and submitted to the Duma Apparatus documents on bonuses for his assistant in the amount of 350 to 600 thousand rubles, containing deliberately false information about the latter’s performance of tasks of particular importance and complexity, but in reality he misappropriated funds and disposed of them at his own discretion,” the Investigative Committee states.
According to the investigation, Sheremetyev caused material damage to the Moscow budget in the amount of more than 2 million rubles. It is reported that law enforcement officers “managed to suppress the illegal activities of the defendant.”
The Investigative Committee is currently conducting investigative actions. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the deputy will soon be decided.
