Navalny could have been poisoned with a hallucinogen - Interfax

Oppositionist Alexei Navalny was given a preliminary diagnosis of “acute poisoning by an unidentified psychodysleptic,” Interfax reports , citing a source in medical circles.

Psychodysleptics is the most general name for chemically dissimilar substances that combine the ability to cause hallucinations and impaired consciousness, so the real value of such a diagnosis is small. This group includes substances from amphetamines to cannabis and gasoline.

The NGS-Omsk publication and the Baza telegram channel provide a more detailed diagnosis: there are suspicions that the drug was sodium oxybutyrate, which is used by robbers and rapists to lull victims and is deadly in case of an overdose. In medicine, it is used as an anesthetic for specific indications.

• According to press secretary Kira Yarmysh, who flew with Navalny, the poisoning occurred in a cafe at Tomsk airport, where the oppositionist was drinking tea, and was intentional.
• When Navalny became ill on board the plane flying from Tomsk to Moscow, he went to the toilet. In a video posted online by a passenger on the same flight, Pavel Lebedev, one can hear the cries of the oppositionist and can be seen flight attendants rushing towards him with a medical case.
• The doctors of the Omsk emergency hospital, where Navalny was hospitalized after the emergency landing of the plane, must decide on his diagnosis today, said Anatoly Kalinichenko, deputy chief physician of the BSMP-1. According to him, there is no certainty yet that the politician was poisoned, this is just one of the versions.
