In Buryatia, a vocal teacher at a music college and civil activist Svetlana Ostapchuk were fired from their jobs. Defender Ostapchuk Nadezhda Nizovkina told about this “Siberia. Realities".
Svetlana Ostapchuk suggested that the dismissal was due to participation in actions, since the college management had already called her to talks because of this.
Nadezhda Nizovkina clarified that before that the teacher was fired because of participation in the rallies of the Communist Party. “In December [2019 - OVD-Info ] we managed to get Svetlana reinstated in college through the court, but the employer formally complied with the court’s requirements - her workload was reduced several times, reducing her salary to 16 thousand rubles. Since December, it was gradually reduced to 3 (!) thousand rubles, dividing Ostapchuk's hours among other teachers. I regard this as a coercion to dismiss.
When Svetlana noticed that the offered salary of 3,000 rubles was below the subsistence level, she, a teacher with higher education, whose students receive awards at international competitions, was offered vacancies as a cleaner and watchman. On August 24, her employment contract was forcibly terminated, so now we are changing the claims - in addition to paying illegally withheld wages, we demand that Svetlana Ostapchuk be reinstated in her previous position on the same conditions, ”the defense quoted the publication as saying.
Ostapchuk also wanted to be interviewed by the police after a rally of solidarity with protesters in the Khabarovsk Territory on August 8, but the teacher refused to accept the summons.
