On August 26, the Moscow Arbitration Court recovered from Alexei Navalny more than 3.3 million rubles in legal costs to pay for lawyers in a lawsuit from the Friendship of Peoples meat processing plant due to an investigation into the supply of products to the Russian Guard, which was carried out by the Anti-Corruption Foundation founded by the politician. This was reported in the FBK Lawyers telegram channel.
The investigation stated that the plant, by order of the government, in 2018 became the only supplier to the Russian National Guard, after which prices for some products soared several times.
The meat processing plant sued Navalny, and in January 2019 the court granted the claim. After this, the politician was fined more than once for refusing to delete the video with the investigation.
The head of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov, after the publication of the video, recorded a video message in which he announced that he was challenging the politician to a duel, and promised to make a “juicy chop” out of him.
