Lukashenko's assistant came out to the protesters in Minsk

Aide to Alexander Lukashenko Nikolai Latyshenok came out to the participants of the March for Peace and Independence in Minsk, Tut.by reports.

Latyshenok came to the State Flag Square, where, as the newspaper writes, several hundred people remained. The square is located next to the Palace of Independence, where tens of thousands of people came about an hour ago, but then began to disperse due to rain.

“[Latyshenok] said that he believes that the elections were fair, everything was done according to the Constitution,” Tut.by reports.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, Latyshenok explained the harsh dispersal of the rallies on August 9-12 by the fact that "the protesters built barricades." One of the protesters asked an official if “five riot policemen per person” is normal, writes Tut.by. “Normal,” he replied (quote from Tut.by).

Answering the agency's question, where was Lukashenka when people came to the Palace of Independence, the assistant to the Belarusian president said that he was in the building. Earlier, Lukashenka's press secretary, in response to this question, sent RIA Novosti a photo of him with a machine gun.

• Tens of thousands of people took to the “Peace and Independence March” in Minsk on August 30. Paddy wagons and water cannons were brought to the city center, riot police at the beginning of the action blocked part of the protesters on Independence Avenue, the police urged people to disperse.
• The protesters walked to the Palace of Independence (the residence of the President of Belarus) and then dispersed when it began to rain. Around seven in the evening, the cordon at the residence was removed, Interfax reports. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus at the same time reported 140 detainees on the march.
