The Kirovsky District Court of Ufa has appointed 10 days of arrest for the Bashkir activist Ramila Saitova under the administrative article on inciting hatred or enmity (Article 20.3.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). It is reported by "Kommersant-Ufa".
In July, Saitova posted a video on Facebook in which she asked questions of Armenian girls passing by about what country they came from, where they live and study. The video was accompanied by the phrase: “How do we have so many Armenians?”
Linguistic examination at the Bashkir State University found signs of inciting hostility, hatred and humiliation in the video. “The author’s attitude has an aggressively-minded, provocative fuse for those who are not “Bashkort” by nationality. The intonational characteristics of the author’s dialogue, lexical and syntactic features testify to undisguised intolerance towards passers-by,” the experts wrote.
Saitova pleaded not guilty, stating that there was no evidence in the case that it was she who filmed the video.
