Security forces again came to the home of the assistant of Moscow City Duma deputy Oleg Sheremetyev

A group of security officials again came to the home of Alla Salakhova, a voluntary assistant to Moscow City Duma deputy Oleg Sheremetyev. This is the sixth such visit in a week. She herself reported this to OVD-Info.

People in plain clothes, who had previously introduced themselves as police officers, first knocked on the door and then turned off the electricity in the deputy’s assistant’s apartment. One of them introduced himself as an employee of the Investigative Committee and stated that he needed to talk with Salakhova, since she was an assistant to a previously detained deputy.

During one of the previous visits, the security forces also turned off the lights, did not introduce themselves, did not explain what they needed, but simply stood silently at the door.

• For the first time, a plainclothes policeman wanted to interrogate her as a witness in a criminal case against deputy Oleg Sheremetyev. After this, law enforcement officers tried to enter Salakhova’s apartment without a search warrant.
• On August 20, Oleg Sheremetyev was detained for 48 hours before the trial to select a preventive measure. He was accused of fraud on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code). On the same day, the Investigative Committee interrogated Sheremetyev’s assistants as witnesses. On August 21, the court sent the deputy under house arrest.
• Oleg Sheremetyev is one of the opposition deputies of the Moscow City Duma who won the elections in 2019. He, in particular, opposed amendments to the Constitution, as well as setting a voting date. In addition, he demanded that criminal prosecution in the “Moscow case” against participants in the summer 2019 protests be stopped.
