The Moscow City Court halved the fine of a participant in a single picket in support of Ilya Azar

The Moscow City Court, on appeal, reduced the amount of the fine to municipal deputy Elena Rusakova, who was detained at a solitary picket in support of journalist and municipal deputy Ilya Azar. This was reported by a lawyer from OVD-Info Olga Pelshe.

On June 16, the Tagansky court found Rusakova guilty under the article on violation by the participant of the procedure for holding the rally (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and imposed a fine of 20 thousand rubles. The Moscow City Court reduced the amount of the fine to 10,000.

• On May 28, Novaya Gazeta journalist and municipal deputy of the Khamovniki district Ilya Azar was arrested for 15 days for a picket in support of Vladimir Vorontsov, the author of the Police Ombudsman telegram channel, and Viktor Nemytov, who was detained earlier at a similar picket. Azar was found guilty of repeated violation of the rules of the action (part 8 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). On the same day, journalists and activists went to pickets in support of Azar. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, 22 people were detained. They drew up protocols on violation of the self-isolation regime and violation of the rules for participation in the action. Two were left overnight before trial at the police departments.
• The next day, May 29, municipal deputies and activists went to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow and Gostiny Dvor in St. Petersburg with the slogans “Picket is not a crime”, “Freedom to Ilya Azar”. Similar pickets were held in different cities.
