In Severodvinsk, the head of the PARNAS party in the Arkhangelsk region, Yury Shcherbachev, was detained. He has already been released. This is reported by MBKh Media and Shcherbachev himself on his page on VKontakte.
He was detained near his own house and taken to the stronghold of the police in the city of Severodvinsk. As it turned out, they wanted to take testimony from him as a supervisor, as a person who was registered on suspicion of extremist activity.
“It turns out, they told me, I am an ‘extremist’ registered with the police for participating in several uncoordinated rallies. Every 3 months I have to come to the police for a conversation and prove that I have embarked on the path of correction, ”says Shcherbachev.
According to him, he was threatened with administrative liability for not appearing at the talks, which he did not know about.
The civil activist also said that communication with the police began a month and a half ago, when he called 112 to report that workers were unloading a large number of gas cylinders into the basement of his house. Then a police officer called Shcherbachev and offered to come to his department, which the activist did not do. Instead, he reported the problem to the regional fire department and soon the cylinders were removed. After that, according to Shcherbachev, the district police officer demanded to meet with him several times.
On the day of his arrest on September 4, the activist says, the police mentioned the gas cylinders he reported about and hinted that he could be charged with complicity in the preparation of a terrorist act. Shortly after Shcherbachev told the police that lawyers were coming to him from Arkhangelsk, he was released.
