“The Creator had an extraordinary affection for beetles,” John Haldane, one of the founders of population genetics, once observed. Indeed, beetles (Coleoptera) are the most species-rich order of living organisms, accounting for about a third of the planet's total species diversity. However, if we add Hymenoptera, Diptera, butterflies and caddisflies to the beetles, then we will already get 90% of all species of creatures on Earth. And then the correct question should be: “Why did the Lord, of His creatures, love insects with complete transformation more than others?”
