The reason for the “questions” to Russia that arose from German Chancellor Angela Merkel after receiving the results of the analysis of the substance with which Alexei Navalny was allegedly poisoned is clarified. Zeit magazine writes that this is still not a known type of toxic substances of the Novichok type, and it could only be available to special services.

Traces of the substance were found on the skin of Navalny's hands and on the bottle of water from which he drank.
This is a new variant of Novichok, even more vicious and deadly than the known poisons of this family. This is probably the fruit of further developments in this area, the publication writes, citing scientists.
According to the sources of the publication, the poison is deliberately made to act more slowly than other options. Presumably, it was applied to the surface of Navalny's cup of tea or added to the drink itself.
Presumably, the poisoning was calculated so that Navalny would die on board the plane. He was saved only by a chain of happy coincidences: the quick reaction of the pilot who landed the plane in Omsk, and the atropine quickly administered to the oppositionist.

“The very existence of the new Novichok excludes the possibility that some Russian oligarch was behind the poisoning. The two-component poison requires laboratory conditions and cannot be used by common criminals. The German intelligence services also believe that a foreign intelligence service could not have been involved in the poisoning, given the constant close surveillance of Navalny by the FSB. All this leads to the only plausible conclusion: the Kremlin gave the order to remove the oppositionist,” writes Zeit.
