In Khabarovsk, approval was denied for a rally in support of Furgal

In Khabarovsk, officials refused to coordinate a rally in support of former governor Sergei Furgal. Local residents planned to hold the action on September 12. MBKh Media writes about this with reference to one of the applicants of the event, Eduard Balagurov.

“We called directly [ another applicant - OVD-Info] Andrey Dudenko. According to him, they called from the regional administration and said that we were denied permission to hold a rally on Lenin Square, where they usually gather, for the reason that some person had submitted an application before us. They agreed on some kind of event, but they didn’t tell us what it was,” the publication quotes Balagurov.

MBKh Media emphasizes that the protesters initially tried to coordinate the rally with the Khabarovsk administration, but city officials refused, proposing to move the rally from Lenin Square to Komsomolskaya Square. The organizers of the rally sent a new request, this time to the administration of the Khabarovsk Territory, which also ultimately refused.

On July 16, the Moscow City Court rejected the appeal of Furgal’s defense and recognized this decision as legal. On July 20, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Furgal’s resignation from the post of governor and appointed Furgal’s fellow party member in the LDPR, Mikhail Degtyarev, to this post as interim, Mediazona reported .
