In Khabarovsk, police detained two protesters in support of Furgal

In Khabarovsk, police detained Konstantin Panchenko, a participant in protests in support of former governor Sergei Furgal. The police were waiting for the protester near his house. Panchenko himself told OVD-Info about this.

The security forces refused to disclose the reason for the arrest, citing the fact that “the department will explain everything.” Panchenko himself connects the detention with participation in protests.

The detainee was taken to police department No. 4. A lawyer from OVD-Info, Andrei Bityutsky, went to help Panchenko.

14:47 A report is drawn up against the detainee under the article on participation in an action that interfered with the functioning of social infrastructure facilities (Part 6.1 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). Panchenko is accused of participating in a rally in support of Furgal, which took place on September 5 in Khabarovsk.

15:57 According to Andrei Bityutsky, a lawyer from OVD-Info, Panchenko was released from the department on an obligation to appear to draw up a report. Bityutsky also clarified that in department No. 4 there was another participant in the protests in support of Furgal, Ekaterina Zaplatina. She was also charged with participation in the rally on September 5 and part 6.1 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code. Zaplatin is currently at large with an obligation to appear to draw up a protocol.

12 September 19:26 According to updated information, Zaplatina was not released from the department on September 11: the police took her to a special detention center, and the detainee was kept there until the trial, which took place on September 12.
