In Pechora, security forces conducted a search of a Jehovah's Witness on September 5. This is reported by the website of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia.

Investigative actions were carried out on the basis of a resolution of the Pechora City Court. As stated on the website, six law enforcement officers took part in the search. The investigator tried to find out from the believer whether she kept money at home. The security officer threatened that if the money was not given, he would open the floors in the apartment.

They refused to issue a search warrant to the follower of the religious movement. According to the investigator, the believer will soon be summoned for questioning.

• This is not the first time that Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia have reported on the persecution of believers in the Komi Republic. At the end of January 2020, mass searches of followers of Jehovah's Witnesses took place in Pechora. After investigative actions, security forces opened a criminal case under the article on organizing the activities of an extremist organization (Part 1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code) against Gennady Polyakevich and Gennady Skutelets.
• On April 20, 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” as an extremist organization, liquidated it and banned its activities in Russia. In August, all Jehovah's Witnesses organizations were added to the list of prohibited organizations. After this, a stream of criminal cases against representatives of the confession began. In February 2019, the court handed down its first sentence with real imprisonment - Danish citizen Dennis Christensen was sentenced to six years in prison, his complaint was accepted for consideration by the ECHR.
