Reading news during a pandemic is associated with increased levels of anxiety . In April, an international group of specialists surveyed Russian residents (including Meduza readers) about their psychological state. The level of situational anxiety increased especially strongly in those with lower trait anxiety. Losing a job and reading the news increased this risk . But it is impossible to speak with certainty about any cause-and-effect relationship, the study authors say.
