BAZA: HSE students staged an action against the dismissal of opposition teachers

Students of the Higher School of Economics arranged an action against the dismissal of opposition teachers, writes BAZA.

In the building of the university on Pokrovsky Boulevard, unknown people hung posters in support of teachers. “There are no politicians,” it is written on one of the posters.

In January, DOXA magazine wrote that the HSE administration wants to forbid students and employees to make public statements, including signing open letters.

On July 3, the DOXA and The Insider Student Journal reported that opposition teachers plan to dismiss the Higher School of Economics. Both publications referred to the teacher of the Higher School of Philosophy of Viktor Gorbatov. According to him, the dismissal threatened about 20 philosophers and culturalists - to everyone who signed resonant open letters.

After that, Andrei Lavrov, the director of public relations, said the Higher School leaders are not conducting “any black lists” of teachers who are facing dismissal.

On July 6, the Academic Head of the Educational Program “Culturology” by the assistant professor Olga Roginskaya was fired from the Higher School of Economics because of her post on Facebook and an interview about the upcoming contractions at the university.

On August 5, the teacher of the philosophy of the Higher School of Economics, Viktor Gorbatov, said that he is fired from September 1.

The Higher School of Enterprise also did not extend the contract with the teacher of the philosophy school Tatyana Levina. She collaborated with the student publication DOXA and supported the political prisoners in the Moscow Affairs.

In addition, the candidate of sociological sciences, associate professor of the Faculty of Sociology of the Higher School in St. Petersburg Ella Paneye was dismissed.

The official reasons for all the dismissal, according to the leadership of the Higher School, is a reorganization of the university or low publication activity.

On August 27, former teachers of the Higher School of Economics announced the launch of the educational project “Free University”.
