In Russia the amount of maternity capital will be increased

The Ministry of Labor plans to index maternity capital in 2021 by 3.7%, based on the forecast level of inflation, RBC writes with reference to the press service of the department. The amount of payments for the first child will increase by 17,265 rubles and amount to 483,882 rubles.

Maternity capital will be increased not only in families where the first child is born. The conditions will also change for the parents of the second child: if they did not receive maternity capital for the first, then the amount will be 639,432 rubles (and otherwise - 155,550 rubles).

According to the ministry, in 2021, 1.2 million Russian families will be able to receive maternity capital. Taking into account the birth rate forecast, 443.3 billion rubles are planned for payments.

On March 1, Vladimir Putin signed a law that expands the maternity capital program to 466,617 rubles for the first child; payments for the second child were increased by 150,000 rubles (up to 616,617 rubles). But the changes affected only those parents whose children were born or adopted after January 1, 2020.
