RIA Fan delays the consideration of the “new” claim regarding the spread of knowingly fake information, actually mocking the court

The defendant represented by RIA “Federal News Agency” (RIA FAN), which is part of the “Kremlin cook”, Evgeny Prigozhin, is inhibited by all parts of the body by the consideration of the lawsuit of Novaya Gazeta and journalist Denis Korotkov on the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation. Several meetings have already passed, but the position of the defendants was not formulated in court.

The claim to the Primorsky Court of St. Petersburg was filed back in February of this year, but the consideration of the case has not yet moved away - then quarantine, then summer, then more. Although the simplest case: the “new” disputes fake information published on the RIA Fan website that Korotkov is allegedly connected with the Islamic State (IG) terrorist organization prohibited in Russia and collaborates with the militants by order of Mikhail Khodorkovsky. In its lawsuit, “Novy” requires to delete the publication “FAN INTRODUCTION: Liberal Journalists of the Russian Federation work for IG” and “Denis Korotkov from Novaya Gazeta” turned out to be an accomplice of the IS terrorists. ” And publish a refutation.

The materials of the agency with fictitious charges appeared after the investigation of the “new” execution of a citizen of Syria by fighters associated with the structures of Prigozhin “PMC Wagner”. Back in November 2019, we demanded from RIA FAN to publicly refute false information and delete materials from the site, but there was no answer.

But the Investigative Committee intervened, which (obviously has nothing to do) initiated a pre -investigation check, and in early February, our editorial office received a letter with the invitation of the “terrorist” Korotkov to the Main Directorate for the investigation of particularly important cases. A mountain of paper was spent before everything was expected to end - a refusal to initiate a criminal case.

A preliminary court hearing in our lawsuit took place only in May, and the consideration of the case on the merits began on September 7, which significantly exceeds the two -month period allotted to the court for consideration.

The defendants came to the court completely unprepared, as if they were in absolute confidence that they would be able to wrap the case, and filed the next request for the transfer of the meeting. Reason: a request by a third party to attract the editors of the site, but who exactly could not be said - well, they do not know by the name of their journalists and their leaders.

The lawyer of "New" Ekaterina Sedova is sure that the defendant in this way is drawn by the trial. The text with fictional information has been hanging on the site for almost a year, and the court seems to be in no hurry to make a decision. Judge Ksenia Orlova satisfied the request of the defendant and postponed the hearing until October 19.
