Petersburg: historian Oleg Sokolov extended the arrest

The accused of the murder of graduate students of St. Petersburg State University Anastasia Eshchenko Historian Oleg Sokolov remains in custody until December 23. This decision was made by the Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg. This was reported by the United press service of the city courts.

Earlier, the parents of Anastasia Eshchenko abandoned the status of the victims. The petition of this was stated by their lawyer. She said that her father and mother are hard to participate in meetings, including video communication. Brother Anastasia Eshchenko became the victim.

The murder of a graduate student of St. Petersburg State University of Anastasia Eshchenko occurred on the night of November 8, 2019. She was killed in the apartment of historian Oleg Sokolov, with whom she lived in the center of St. Petersburg. The historian himself in the morning of November 8 was caught from the Moika River along with a backpack, in which the investigators discovered the remains of the girl. Sokolov later admitted that he killed and dismembered Eshchenko, but at one of the meetings he refused to answer the question of his guilt in the murder.

During the interrogation, Sokolov said that on the evening of November 7, a quarrel occurred between him and the student: "She darted, insulted, rushed at me with fists." At some point, Sokolov “rushed into a small room” and grabbed a cut.
