The Park "Tuchkov Buyan" will be engaged in "Studio 44"

The Park "Tuchkov Buyan" on the site near the Exchange Bridge will be built according to the project of the St. Petersburg Studio 44, which was engaged in the reconstruction of the General Staff. On the territory they want to place walking areas, a greenhouse, an embankment with a floating scene and playgrounds. The St. Petersburg Architectural Bureau Studio 44 won the concept of concepts of the Park "Cups of Buyan". This was announced on September 18 at a press conference of the Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture. The studio is managed by the Honored Architect of Russia Nikita Yavein, the company, for example, is known for the reconstruction of the eastern wing of the building of the Main Staff.

“Studio 44” developed a project of the future park together with the Netherlands Bureau West 8, which was engaged in New Holland, as well as parks near the water in Madrid, London and New York. As the winners of the company's competition will receive a prize of 50 thousand dollars.

The second place in the competition was taken by JV Vogt together with Herzog & de Meuron from Switzerland - they must pay 30 thousand dollars. Prior to this, the company together was engaged in a park at Novartis Campus in Basel, where they created landscape architecture in the dried areas of the Rhine.

The young architectural bureau “needles” received the third place and prize in 20 thousand dollars - also from St. Petersburg. The team was landscaped by Bolshaya Morskaya Street near Palace Square, as well as Sevkabel Port.

Studio 44 plans to change the landscape of the park by creating four bulk hills. Inside them will be placed a multifunctional “Grotto” pavilion with an exhibition hall of Karelian geology and a cafe.

Along Speransky Street, they plan to build a building under a greenhouse with different microclimate - from Mediterranean to tropical. Not far from the building is offered to equip a green maze and fruit garden.

On the embankment, which they want to name the “Kiss of the Neva”, there will be an amphitheater, as well as a floating scene for concerts on the water. The park promises to build two playgrounds, and a skate park may appear next to the Yubileiny SK. The Aifman Theater will accommodate the central square on which they want to arrange performances.

The studio 44 notes that the emphasis in the project was on the “creation of romantic landscape species” and “disclosing the city panorama”.

According to the chief architect of St. Petersburg Vladimir Grigoryev, the project does not provide total development for commercial functions, the main emphasis will be on creating a natural, “rather exotic” hilly landscape for St. Petersburg.

After the winning concept of the Buyan Tuchkov Park was presented in St. Petersburg, some citizens noted that the project does not quite comply with the needs of local residents.

Petersburgers during a public hearing have repeatedly stated that they see the “clouds of Buyan” with the main place for a quiet relax in the city center and fear the influx of tourists. At the same time, the organizer of the International Concept Competition, Denis Filippov, general director of the Dom.rf Foundation, said about 7 million people will visit the park annually.

“The project at every step offers the visitor some entertainment, although the requests of citizens and common sense clearly said that restraint was needed in this regard,” Architectural critic Maria Elkin told Paper . According to her, the city should not "turn the park into a kind of shopping and entertainment complex."

Citizens are also criticized by granite benches shown on visualizations, on which “it is cold even in the summer”, and the abundance of tiles. At the same time, other users write that in any case, the project is happy - "Better a park than another new building."

On the site where they now want to build “clouds of Buyan”, at different times, planned to implement several projects.

In 2012, the construction of an elite residential complex from VTB was stopped there for the sake of creating a court quarter. They wanted to build houses for judges and the building of the Supreme Court on the site, but in the spring of 2019 the project was canceled. The exact dates of the appearance in the city of "Tuchkova Buyana" are unknown. As previously said by the general director of KB Strelka (competition operator) Denis Leontyev, design and approval can take about a year, construction will leave for a couple of years. It is expected that 5-6 billion rubles will be spent on the implementation.
