A truck driver who opposed the Platon system was charged

Truck driver Mikhail Vedrov, who spoke out against the Platon system, was charged under the article on the use of violence against a representative of the authorities that is not dangerous to life and health (Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by OVD-Info lawyer Sergei Telnov, who represents Vedrov’s interests.

According to the resolution, the trucker, “being dissatisfied with the legal actions” of traffic police inspector S.A. Nikishin, had criminal intent. Realizing that there was a policeman in front of him, “aware of the public danger and the illegality of his actions,” he “dealt at least one blow to Nikishin’s neck.”

We are talking about an incident that occurred on the evening of September 11th. A day earlier, truckers and members of the Association of Carriers of Russia (OPR) held an action in Tver against the Platon system. On September 11, security forces stopped a convoy of cars at the exit from Tver. One of the employees asked to see the documents. In response to a question about the grounds for such a procedure, the policeman began to shout at everyone, and a skirmish ensued between Vedrov and the policeman.

As a result, Vedrov was accused of attacking a traffic police inspector. On the night of September 12, Vedrov was released with an obligation to appear, and then it became known that a case had been opened for the use of violence against a government official. On September 15, the truck driver was again sent to a temporary detention facility pending trial as a result of suppression. On September 17, Vedrova was placed under house arrest.
