The court announced another verdict in the “Ingush case”. The defendant was released from custody in the courtroom

The Zheleznovodsk City Court of the Stavropol Territory announced the verdict to Isropil Nalgiev, a participant in the protests in Magas against changing the borders of Ingushetia with Chechnya. He was sentenced to 11 months in prison in a penal colony. This was reported by the human rights center "Memorial".

Since February, Nalgiev has been in a pre-trial detention center. In this regard, the court recognized the sentence as served and released the person involved in the “Ingush case” from custody.

Nalgiev was found guilty under the article on the use of violence against a representative of the authorities (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code).

Nalgiev, writes "Memorial", admitted his guilt in part. According to him, during the rally in Magas, he threw a chair at the National Guard and did it without a political motive. Lawyer Hussein Guliyev asked to exclude the motive of political enmity from the charge, but the court nevertheless indicated it in the verdict as an aggravating circumstance.

the next day Nalgiev was detained on February 4 and taken into custody . Initially, he was suspected of using violence against security forces, dangerous to life and health (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code), but then the charge was reclassified to non-dangerous violence (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). According to the prosecution, during the dispersal of the rally on March 27, 2019, Nalgiev threw a plastic chair at the National Guard and hit his arm and torso.

• As part of the “Ingush case”, 26 convictions have already been passed. In September, the court, in addition to Nalgiev, found guilty of violence against security forces two more defendants in the case - Khamzat Kamurzoev and Akhmed Chakhkiev - and immediately released from custody, taking into account the time served. According to the Human Rights Center Memorial, 44 people were prosecuted in the case of the Ingush protests in March 2019 in Magas.
• In September 2018, the authorities of Ingushetia and Chechnya signed an agreement to change the border between the republics, after which protests began in Ingushetia. On March 26, 2019, about 10 thousand people came to the rally in Magas. About two thousand protesters remained on the square all night. In the morning they began to be dispersed, as a result of which clashes broke out between the security forces and the protesters .
• In the wake of the rally, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on incitement to mass riots (part 3 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of life-threatening and health-threatening violence against law enforcement officers (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code).
