The 32-year-old Russian hacker faces 12 years in prison for attacks on LinkedIn, Dropbox and FormSpring

The US prosecutor’s office asked the federal judge in California to sentenced 32-year-old Russian Yevgeny Nikulin to 12 years in prison for hacker attacks on the social network LinkedIn and FormSpring and the Dropbox service.

According to the Law360 portal with reference to the court’s database, the prosecutor’s office emphasized that the Russian during the court did not show “no repentance or regret” regarding his criminal activity, and will continue to pose a threat in case of extradition to his homeland.

The Russian does not admit his guilt. His defense asked the court to limit himself to a period that he is already in custody (almost 2.5 years), and deport him to his homeland.

In July of this year, the jury in San Francisco found Evgeny Nikulin guilty of abduction of data from 112 million users of his hacked services. The jury decided that it is responsible for one of the largest data leaks in the history of the United States.

Evgeny Nikulin was detained in Prague in October 2016 by Czech law enforcement officers who, at the request of Interpol, conducted an operation together with the US FBI agents. In the same month, the jury court of California accused him of committing hacker attacks in the United States. According to American law enforcement officers, Nikulin in 2012 hacked the computer networks of LinkedIn, Dropbox and Formspring services and stole the data of tens of millions of users (it was noted that about 100 million users could compromised the attack).

In November 2016, the demand to issue Nikulin entered the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic andfrom the Russian side . In Russia, he was accused of the stealing of $ 3,500 through the WebMoney service in 2009. Czech courts allowed the extraction of the Russian to both countries.

Nikulin asked for political asylum in the Czech Republic, but he was refused.
