A municipal deputy from a village near St. Petersburg was suspected of murdering his wife; he ran away from home wrapped in a Russian flag

Police officers detained a suspect near his 61-year-old wife near the village of Komarovo, Leningrad Region. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Investigative Committee.

According to TASS , we are talking about 55-year-old Komarovo municipal deputy Igor Shokin, who nominated himself as a self-nominated candidate in 2019. During his arrest, he was “hiding in the bushes near his house,” notes RIA Novosti .

During the election campaign, he said that he had lived with his wife Tatyana in Komarovo for more than 30 years.

Fontanka, without indicating the source of information , claims that the body of a woman with stab wounds on the afternoon of September 28 was discovered by a friend of the couple’s son. He asked to check on his mother, who was not answering calls. According to him, Shokin “in only shorts”, “wrapped in a tricolor”, ran out of the house. According to the preliminary version, a conflict occurred between Shokin and his wife while they were drinking.
