The court fined a protest participant 150 thousand rubles for the right to peaceful assembly

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow fined activist Viktor Nemytov 150 thousand rubles for a picket in defense of the right to hold peaceful protests. The activist’s poster with the inscription “Russia without Putin” was ordered to be destroyed. This is reported by “Apology of Protest”.

Nemytov was found guilty of repeated violation of the rules for holding public events (Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code) for the action on June 5 near the Ministry of Internal Affairs building on Petrovka, 38. Then 17 activists supporting the right to peaceful assembly were detained in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

This was preceded by the detention of Nemytov on May 26 for a picket in support of the author of the public page “Police Ombudsman” Vladimir Vorontsov. For that picket he was arrested for 15 days. After this, journalist Ilya Azar spoke out in support of the Ombudsman and Nemytov himself - he was subsequently also given 15 days.

For several weeks, activists in Moscow and St. Petersburg rallied for the right to hold peaceful assemblies in solidarity with those arrested. Nemytov’s arrest was canceled , and Azar’s sentence was reduced to 10 days. On June 5, Nemytov, who had already been released from the special detention center, took part in one of the actions for the right to peaceful protests.

• “Police Ombudsman” was originally a VKontakte group created by Vladimir Vorontsov when he worked in the police and Center “E”, then pages appeared on other social networks. The public information about violations of the rights of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and criticism of the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is covered.
• On May 7,they came to Vorontsov’s apartment with a search, and the security forces entered the apartment through a window, descending from the roof on ropes. The next day, the court sent the “police ombudsman” to a pre-trial detention center under charges of extortion.
• Vorontsov's lawyer reported that fourteen criminal cases were being investigated against his client: two cases under the article "Extortion", three - on the illegal production and circulation of pornographic materials, one - on libel, for which the statute of limitations has already expired, and another eight - on insulting representatives authorities.
