In Ingushetia, law enforcers searched the homes of Deputy Mufti Magomed Khashtyrov, operator of the Muftiate Abdurakhman Torshkhoev, and Imam Adam Maloroev in connection with the 2019 protest action in the republic. This is reported by " MBH Media " and " Fortanga ".
Lawyer Magomed Bekov, in a conversation with MBKh Media, said that during the searches, computers and phones were confiscated from Khashtyrov and Maloroev. After the search, they were taken to the Investigative Committee of Vladikavkaz for interrogation.
“Maloroev was interrogated as a witness in the rally case. Questions were about the muftiate, the organization of the work of the muftiate, the personality of the mufti of the republic, Isa Khamkhoev. In this vein, Deputy Mufti Magomed Khashtyrov was also interrogated, ”the publication quotes Bekov as saying.
Torshkhoev was also detained after the search and taken for interrogation to the Investigative Committee of Vladikavkaz. All three were released after interrogation.
Bekov, in a conversation with MBKh Media, suggested that the actions of the security forces were connected with the election in August 2020 of the new mufti of Ingushetia, Isa Khamkhoev, who supported the protests against the transfer of Ingush lands to Chechnya.
“No one expected that Khamkhoev would be elected. A few days ago there was information that a branch of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims was opened in the North Caucasus Federal District. Akhmed Sagov was appointed as a representative - a person, let's say, not a very decent one, and he has no authority at all in Ingush society. It seems to me that all these are links in one chain - his election as this representative in Ingushetia. Thus, this organization is opposed to the muftiate and splits the society,” the publication quotes the words of the lawyer.
