The court in Vologda dismissed the criminal case against the administrator of the public “Police Ombudsman”

In Vologda, the magistrate of court district No. 6, Nina Yanushevich, dismissed the criminal case against the administrator of the public “Police Ombudsman” Igor Khudyakov under the article on the distribution of pornography (Part 1 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code). Khudyakov’s lawyer Maxim Pashkov reported this on his Telegram channel.

The case was dismissed at the request of the defense due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution. The prosecutor did not object to the dismissal of the case.

Khudyakov was initially accused of distributing pornography by a group of people using the Internet (Part 3 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code), but then the charge was softened to Part 1 of the same article. The public administrator then admitted his guilt in sending the photo in one of the chats.

At the end of July, Khudyakov was charged with a new version. Mentions of Vladimir Vorontsov, the creator of the “Police Ombudsman” public page,were excluded from the document.

On May 25, 2020, the Tverskoy District Court sent Khudyakov to a pre-trial detention center as part of a case on the production and circulation of pornography (Part 3 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code). Two days earlier, Khudyakov’s place in Vologda was searched. After the security forces announced that they planned to take Khudyakov to Moscow, nothing was known about his whereabouts for about a day. Then members of the Public Monitoring Committee found him in the temporary detention center on Petrovka, 38.
On July 21, Khudyakov was released from the pre-trial detention center. The investigation canceled the preventive measure for Khudyakov due to the mitigation of the charges. Khudyakov pleaded guilty to the new charge. He was under recognizance not to leave the place.
“Police Ombudsman” was originally a group on VKontakte , which was created by Vladimir Vorontsov when he was still serving in the police and Center “E”; then similar channels and pages appeared in other social networks and instant messengers. The main topic of the publications of the “Police Ombudsman” is the violation of the rights of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as criticism of the work of the department and its individual leaders.
A criminal case was also opened against Vorontsov himself. He is charged with two counts of extortion (Parts 1 and 2 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code), two counts of insulting a government official (Article 319 of the Criminal Code), as well as illegal trafficking and production of pornographic materials by a group of persons (Part 3 of Article 242 UK).
