Russian Foreign Ministry: Belarusian sanctions against European officials will also apply in Russia
The Belarusian sanctions list against EU officials will automatically operate in Russia. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
Zakharova stressed that this would happen "in accordance with allied obligations."
The Russian Foreign Ministry also stressed that it considers the EU sanctions "open and unacceptable pressure on the Belarusian authorities, who are making efforts to normalize the situation inside the country."
Representatives of the European Union and its member states have repeatedly assured that there is no geopolitics in their approaches. However, the decisions taken in the EU, the language of threats, as well as other actions against Belarus indicate the opposite.
- Belarus on the morning of October 2 announced the imposition of sanctions against an unnamed number of European officials. This was done in response to the actions of the EU, which blacklisted about 40 representatives of the Belarusian authorities, who, according to Brussels, are responsible for electoral fraud and human rights violations. Alexander Lukashenko was not included in the list.
