The authorities of Ingushetia again refused to coordinate a rally in support of political prisoners

The government of Ingushetia refused to agree on a rally in support of political prisoners. The action was planned to be held in Magas on 11 October. This is reported by Fortanga with reference to the applicant of the rally and the former defendant in the case of the protests in Magas Bagaudin Myakiev.

As the purpose of the rally, the applicants indicated “the requirement to respect the constitutional rights of Ingush prisoners in the case of the protests of March 26–27, 2019.”

In refusing to approve the action, the chairman of the local government, Vladimir Slastenin, concluded that measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus require wearing masks, and participants in public actions are prohibited from hiding their faces. This means that the rally in the present circumstances cannot be agreed upon, the official concludes.
