Greenpeace: pollution off the coast of Kamchatka threaten UNESCO's heritage. In the bays of the water area, spots and yellow foam are recorded

The Russian team "Greenpeace" recorded pollution in the water area of ​​the Khalalaktyrsky beach in Kamchatka and neighboring bays. The results of the expedition are reported on the organization’s website.

“In different places, we observed a yellowish foam on the ocean surface, the water is also opaque. In one of the locations, we found dead animals. A spot, and it’s more correct to even say a certain volume, because it is not only on the surface, but also at a depth, moves along the coast, ”said Vasily Yablokov, head of the Greenpeace climatic project in Russia.

Ecologists examined the salvation bay and a number of others located south of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. They argue that one of the spots of unknown origin is moving towards the reserve of the “Kamchatka volcanoes”, which is the UNESCO World Heritage Object.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Kobylkin, the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, who has arrived at the place of disaster, does not believe that what happened is caused by causes of a technogenic nature. “There are no excesses of MPC for oil products either in water or on land,” he said , adding that the incident can be called a disaster, since “not a single person died,” and the surfers who were the first to report on the pollution of the water received only a burn of the corneal of the eyes, which are treated with “drops and solutions”.

According to the “new” representative of Greenpeace Vladimir Chuprov, Kobylkin’s statement was correct, it is worth waiting for the advanced test results. Greenpeace will present detailed results of own research within two days.
