Petersburg: The accused of justification of terrorism extended the arrest

The court in St. Petersburg extended until November 6 the arrest of the accused in justification of terrorism on the Internet of LGBT activist Alexander Merkulov. The side of protection asked for house arrest. This was reported in the United press service of the city courts.

The court also issued a decision on inaction and creation of red tape in a criminal case against investigator Ustyugov. It was found that the investigator from late August to the end of September did not appoint an examination and did not receive the answers to the requests necessary for the investigation of the crime. At the same time, at the last meeting, Ustyugov demanded to extend the term of the arrest of Merkulov just to carry out the actions necessary for investigation. The petition was satisfied.

• Alexander Merkulov was detained in early July on suspicion of public justification of terrorism on the Internet. According to investigators, in his posts, Merkulov approved the act of Mikhail Zhlobitsky, who committed self -break at the FSB management door in Arkhangelsk in October 2018. Merkulov himself had previously repeatedly stated that he was not a supporter of terror. He complained about pressure from the investigators.
