Schroeder will sue the Bild newspaper due to an interview with Navalny

Former Chancellor Germany Gerhard Schroeder said that he was suing the Bild newspaper due to an interview with Alexei Navalny. The German media write about this.

Interview with the Russian opposition was published on Wednesday, October 6. In it, the Russian oppositionist called Schroder "a boy on the escapes of Putin." In addition, according to Navalny, the former Chancellor received secret payments from the President of Russia. At the same time, the opposition admitted that he had no evidence.

Schroeder called Navalny's statements erroneous. He also noted that Bild distributed information without requesting his comment.

Gerhard Schroeder served as the Federal Chancellor of Germany from 1998 to 2005. In the early 2000s, he was one of the initiators of the construction of the first branch of the North Stream gas pipeline. Schroder was then accused of that as part of the project he was going to cover up Russian assets of dubious origin. The former Chancellor rejected.

Since 2017, Schroider heads the board of directors of the Rosneft Corporation.
