A court in Khabarovsk arrested nine participants in the Saturday rally in support of Sergei Furgal

The courts in Khabarovsk arrested four participants of the Saturday rally on October 10 under the article of participation in an uncoordinated action that interfered with the movement of vehicles and pedestrians (Part 6.1 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and one - under the article of repeated violation of the rules of participation in the action (Part 8 Art. 20.2 of the Administrative Code). The Industrial District Court sentenced Alexander Vasiliev to 20 days of arrest (it was against him that a case was opened under Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences); he was assisted by the lawyer of the “Apology of Protest”, Konstantin Bubon. The same court arrested Alexey Levoshko for seven days. Levoshko was defended by OVD-Info lawyer Alexey Petrenko.

The Zheleznodorozhny District Court sentenced three participants of the Saturday action to five days of arrest: Natalya Migal, Alexey Kadin and Tatyana Samodurova. In court, they were defended by a lawyer from OVD-Info, Evgeniy Yurchenko.

During the Saturday rally on October 10, security forces used brute force to disperse the rally participants on Lenin Square. Some detainees required medical attention, and one detainee lost consciousness after police used force on him.

The reason for the dispersal of the action was several tents that the protesters put up in the square. The police first demanded that they be removed and then roughly dispersed the protesters. According to OVD-Info, more than 30 people were detained that day because of the protest.

The Central District Court arrested Stanislav Vorobyov for seven days under the article on participation in an uncoordinated action that interfered with the movement of vehicles and pedestrians (Part 6.1 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). Alexander Bondarenko was arrested for five days under the same article.

Under the article on repeated violation of the rules of participation in the action (Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code), Sergei Petrov was arrested for 10 days, and Vyacheslav Gaev - for 25 days.

• In connection with the October 10 action, security forces opened several criminal cases. Two of them - against Alexander Prikhodko and Anastasia Subbotnikova - under the article on repeated violation of the procedure for holding a public event (Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code). Subbotnikova and, probably, two other people are also suspected of using violence against law enforcement officers (Article 318 of the Criminal Code).
• Since July 11, in the Khabarovsk Territory and other regions of the country, rallies have been held in support of the arrested ex-governor Sergei Furgal. Until approximately July 18, the police made almost no attempts to prevent the protesters, but later law enforcement officers began to detain protesters and initiate administrative cases against them in Khabarovsk , Vladivostok , Komsomolsk-on-Amur , Yekaterinburg , Chelyabinsk , Voronezh , Sochi , Perm , Irkutsk , Novosibirsk and others cities.
• On July 9, the then-current governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Sergei Furgal, was detained by FSB officers on suspicion of involvement in a number of contract killings. He was taken to Moscow, where he was placed in custody. On July 20, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Furgal’s resignation from the post of governor and appointed Furgal’s LDPR party member Mikhail Degtyarev to this post as acting. In early September, Furgal’s arrest was extended for three months, the meeting was held behind closed doors.
