Now in Russia much fewer beds under Covid are deployed than in the spring, the director of the Dawn clinic Alexei Paramonov knows. In his opinion, the bed fund will return to the spring indicator in about two weeks. A certain part of patients who do not need oxygen can be treated on an outpatient basis, but with the condition that they will be quickly taken to the hospital, if they need it, Paramonov explains.

The number of Covid sick in Russia is growing steadily every day. The May peak of 11,656 people of the sick per day was broken on October 9 and from those did not fall below 13 thousand sick daily.

In the first week of September, the number of such requests increased by 10% of the previous week, in the next weeks there were only more: by 16%, 25% and 36%.

From September 28 to October 4, growth amounted to 43%, and over the past week (from 5 to 11 October), the number of shows of such results in Russia increased by 35%, to 335 thousand. “This is 2.4 times higher than the May maximum,” Ovchinnikov writes on his Facebook page. In total, from the beginning of the pandemic until mid -August, the Russian search engine recorded 2.08 million shows on demands with the word “sense of smell”.

According to an independent expert in the field of demography, a former adviser to the demographic calculations of the Office of Statistics of the population and healthcare of Rosstat Alexei Rakshi, excess mortality in Russia due to Covid on September 1 amounted to about 85,000 people-compared to 2019.

“That is, the ratio of requests and deaths is approximately 25: 1. If this ratio is preserved (although of course I want to hope that it will change towards less mortality), then 335,000 requests per week is plus 13,000 deaths. There will be even more requests this week, ”Ovchinnikov suggests.

Ovchinnikov believes that an increase in the number of requests about smell is not related to seasonal colds or media noise. "Hrymile" and "cold" do not grow, the "symptoms of coronavirus" are growing - but much more slowly than the "sense of smell". But the requests about the “lost taste” increased by 34% - almost flush with the “sense of smell,” he writes.

According to the director of the Dawn Clinic, the existing measures - the use of masks and handling the hands with an antiseptic - could be effective if people observed them. Distribution occurs actively because the supervision is insufficient - the fines are not discharged, he believes.

“And we have little alternatives. The first option is to tighten existing measures, the second option is to put everyone home. And I'm afraid, the second option does not suit people, nor the state, or the economy. It is necessary to strengthen precisely point measures and control of those decisions that have already been made, ”Paramonov concluded.
