On the morning of October 17, Banksy posted his new work on Instagram, thereby confirming his authorship. In the graffiti, a girl spins a bicycle tire like a hoop. Obviously, she took it off an old bicycle without a wheel, left by someone nearby.
“Banksy’s next job could be repairing bicycles, he just doesn’t know about it yet,” the artist’s Instagram says.
The work appeared in Nottingham at the intersection of Rothesay Avenue and Ilkston Road. This happened on October 13, but there was no confirmation before that this was the work of Banksy. Nevertheless, just in case, they decided to protect the work - and covered it with a transparent screen, which they had already painted.
Banksy's previous work, such as a sneezing rat or a rat in self-isolation , has dealt with the pandemic. There are no hints of this topic in the new work - the girl is just spinning the hoop. "Perhaps the message is 'We're in troubled times, so let's get the most out of it - and use everything that's broken for fun,'" Professor Paul Gough, who studies Banksy, told BBC . News
