On Saturday, mass protests continued in Minsk - student and women's marches were held simultaneously in the capital of Belarus. More than ten people were detained.
About the detention of more than 10 people on the students' march was reported by the correspondent of RIA Novosti, who was also detained by the security forces to check documents.
The participants of the march before its start gathered at the Minsk State Linguistic University. At about 13:00, a column of more than a hundred people, accompanied by journalists, moved to the intersection of Independence Avenue and Kozlov Street. The detentions began almost immediately, according to local Telegram channels, after which most of the participants dispersed.
The march of women, consisting of about a hundred people, as of 13.50 passes without excesses.
The state agency BELTA emphasizes the small number of shares. In the first weeks after the August 9 elections, they gathered over a hundred thousand people.
This week, the former presidential candidate of Belarus, the head of the opposition, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, issued an ultimatum to Alexander Lukashenko, who declared himself the winner of the elections. On October 13, she gave the president 13 days to leave his post and release political prisoners, otherwise a large-scale strike and an indefinite rally will begin in the country.
