An exhibition of Mikhail Tolmachev is taking place in MMOMA

Since October 14, the Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art (MMOMA) has been working on Mikhail Tolmachev’s exhibition “Re-Locations”, organized by the MMOMA together with the Museum of Vadim Sidur.

According to the site of the MMOM , the project of Mikhail Tolmachev explores the work of the mechanisms of human perception and imagination in the process of constructing images of the collective past, based on subjective memories and indirect experience.

The Re-Locations project is based on the diary of Vladislav Tamarov, a Soviet soldier who spent 621 days in Afghanistan during the military conflict of 1979-1989.

“His memories served as a material for creating works that form an exhibition landscape, set by three components: a monologue of a stone, which symbolically represents an involuntary witness and accomplice of a hybrid conflict; digital reconstruction of the landscape, which allows us to be on different sides of the event; And the performative action, which balances between the direct personal experience of the participant in the hostilities and its reconstruction, forming a new subjective reality, ”the organizers of the exhibition noted.

Every Thursday in the space of the exhibition is the shows of the performance “One of the most beautiful places” performed by Andrei Stadnikov. The text of the performance was written by the artist in collaboration with the playwright Natalya Zaitseva.

The exhibition of Mikhail Tolmachev “Re-Locations” in MMOM will last until November 8 .
