In the city of Tarusa in the Kaluga region, 16 streets were returned to their pre-revolutionary names

The authorities of the city of Tarusa in the Kaluga region decided to return the pre-revolutionary names to some streets. This was stated by the head of the Tarusa region Ruslan Smolensky.

In total, it was decided to rename 16 streets, most of which now bear the names of communist ideologists. For example, the old names will be returned to the streets of Rosa Luxembourg (it will be called Posadskaya), Engels (Ivanovskaya), Karl Marx (Field), Oktyabrskaya (Voskresenskaya).

• In many cities of Russia, the historical names of the streets were massively returned in the early 1990s, immediately after the collapse of the USSR. Subsequently, this process slowed down, and in recent decades, cases of renaming streets on the principle of returning historical names instead of those associated with communism are rare.
