The promotion of the Solovetsky stone will be held this year online

On October 30, 1990, on the Square near the Polytechnic Museum, the efforts of the Memorial Society, the Solovetsky Stone, a monument to the victims of political repressions in the USSR, was erected at the then young then young then.

This granite boulder was brought from the Solovetsky Islands in the White Sea - in different years, a concentration camp, a special purpose camp, known under the abbreviation elephant, and a special purpose prison were located there. The monument is located opposite the building of the Cheka-GPU-NVKD-KGB, near the bronze Dzerzhinsky, which launched the death of the death.

Prisoners of the camps began to celebrate the day of the political prisoner since 1974. Since 1987, the day of memory of victims of political repression was celebrated throughout the country. In 1989, about three thousand people formed a live chain around the KGB building, and then went to Pushkinskaya. But the rally of the memory of the victims of repression then did not take place - the audience was dispersed by the riot police.

Since October 29, 2007, the same “Memorial” annually held the “Return of Names” by Solovetsky stone.

The victims of repression are not to be resurrected, but it is important to at least read their names.

The reaches that came to the monument became a long queue, the memorials gave them prepared lists, and the names of people who were united by one: “Shot during the years of repression in Moscow sounded.” For 12 years everyone has not yet been called. Many added the names of relatives who died in different years and in different cities. Somehow, a middle-aged lady, having reported her several names, added: “No one died in the years of terror, my grandfather shot. Sorry, people! "

This worthy turn moved not fast, there were teachers with their students, young and elderly. Usually on this day it was cold, and the organizers put heating lamps.

On October 29-30, such shares were held in 30 cities of Russia, as well as in Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Great Britain, the USA and Canada.

A few days later, the Moscow Solovetsky stone will turn 30 years old.

Unfortunately, this year there will be no queue at the monument - in order to avoid the risk of getting infected in the crowd.

But the names will sound anyway. We have already learned to work, communicate and even drink online.
