AstraZeneca vaccine trial participant dies of complications from COVID-19

A Brazilian doctor who participated in AstraZeneca's British-Swedish vaccine trial has died due to complications from a coronavirus infection, Globe writes , citing Brazil's health surveillance agency.

The volunteer was 28 years old. The laboratory that conducted the tests did not disclose whether the man received the vaccine or the placebo during the experiment.

AstraZeneca is developing a vaccine with the University of Oxford. Deliveries of the drug are already expected in the EU (Sweden, in particular, hopes to receive the first batches by the end of December), Brazil, the USA and other countries. Clinical trials of the vaccine have already been stopped twice - because of the illness of one of the volunteers and because of unusual symptoms in the test subject.

American scientists have found discrepancies in the reports on the AstraZeneca vaccine. In particular, side effects were described in different ways in the papers. In addition, the company provided various data on the diseases diagnosed in volunteers.

Shares of AstraZeneca fell 1.81% after news of the volunteer's death.
