The Kiev District Court of Simferopol limited Enver Ametov, the person involved in the second Simferopol “Hizb ut-Tahrir case”, in terms of familiarizing himself with the case materials. This is reported by the website of the movement "Crimean Solidarity" with reference to the lawyer of the accused.
Sergei Makhnev, senior investigator of the FSB of Crimea, asked the court to limit the time for familiarization with the case materials until November 2, but the court considered this period insufficient, limiting the time until November 20.
On October 22, two more defendants in the second Simferopol case, Yashar Muedinov and Rustem Sheikhaliev, were also limited to familiarize themselves until November 20, and on October 19, the court made a similar decision on a similar petition in relation to several other defendants in the case.
- Enver Ametov is charged under articles on participation in the activities of a terrorist organization (part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and preparations for a violent seizure of power (part 1 of article 30 and article 278 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In total, 29 Crimean Tatars are being tried in the second Simferopol case of Hizb ut-Tahrir, 25 of them are in a pre-trial detention center, four are wanted.
- Hizb ut-Tahrir was recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. In this regard, criminal cases are initiated in different regions of the country, while the defendants are sentenced to various terms in a strict regime colony only on the basis that they met in apartments, read religious literature and spread their ideas. According to a number of experts, Hizb ut-Tahrir was unlawfully recognized as a terrorist organization, since its members in Russia did not prepare or carry out terrorist acts.
